What is the Storyline Slam?

8 local storytellers. 6 minutes. 1 winner.

The Storytellers:  Eight storytellers take the stage to share their six-minute story. Sign up for the storytelling drawing by filling out the form on the Storytellers page. Signups start the day after the last SLAM. The SLAM lineup is posted the Sunday before the event on the Storytellers page of this website, on the SLAM's Facebook event page, and on the SLAM’s Instagram page.

The Judges:  Audience members are picked at random the night of the show before the SLAM starts to be the judges.  

The SLAM:  Five judges score the stories on a scale of ten with the total maximum points available set at 30. The storyteller with the most points at the end of the night wins!

The Storyline Slam is hosted by Dan Hoen Hull (he/him) and T’nea Rolle (she/her) and produced by Tanya Chakravarty (she/her) and Galactic Chutney in partnership with Changing Hands Bookstore in Phoenix and First Draft Book Bar. This community event aims to further storytelling in The Valley. Come join us as we spend an evening each month listening and sharing our stories with each other.
